Credit repair services can fix all errors and inaccuracies in your credit report quickly and effortlessly. The steps involved in fixing credit reports is complex and time consuming. This is why many Americans choose to hire a credit repair company to take on the work. Learn more about credit repair services and if they can help you.

Companies called Consumer Reporting Agencies (CRAs), also know as credit bureaus, gather and sell your credit report and credit history to businesses and your creditors. Your creditors and other businesses use this information to assess the degree of credit risk you pose as they evaluate your applications for credit, employment, insurance, mortgages and many other purposes. It is essential that the information they are supplying about you be complete and accurate. Often, it is not.

Many financial advisors suggest that you review your credit report yearly for inaccuracies or omissions. This could be particularly important if you're considering accumulating debt through making a major purchase, for example, buying a home. Ensuring that your credit information is valid, accurate and up to date can literally save you thousands of dollars in better interest rates and less expensive loans.

If you have been denied credit, find out why. Credit repair services can be an extremely valuable solution to your credit repair challenges.

How to get your credit report

If you've been denied credit, employment or insurance as a result of information supplied by a CRA, the FCRA demands that the company you applied to provide you the CRA's name, address, and telephone number. You can then contact the agency to receive a copy of your report within 60 days of receipt of a denial notice. In these circumstances, the report is free. In the past, you were entitled to one free copy of your credit report a year, providing that you certify in writing that you're unemployed and it is your intention to search for a job within 60 days, that you're presently on welfare or that your credit report is inaccurate because of fraud. If none of these circumstances applied to you, a CRA was able to charge you up to $9.00 for a copy of your credit report.

Due to recent changes in the law demanded by the FTC, every US citizen is now able to formally request one free copy of their credit report from each CRA annually. Learn more about these changes and how they may affect you.

Only once you have your credit report can you know if credit repair is required.

Credit Repair can correct errors on your credit report.

Under the FCRA, both the CRA and the company or organization that provided the information to the CRA, for example your bank or credit card company, have the responsibility to correct inaccurate or invalid information in your report. But do they? Very often, they do not.
